Scuole Arcimbolde

School for thought

The seat of the Barnabite Schools, it was built to a design by Lorenzo Binago from 1663, financed by a bequest from the Arcimboldi family. The building underwent successive modifications that partly altered the original design, in particular as regards the windows and the elegant portal on the façade.

Noteworthy feature: the adjacent church, dating to 1602, with elongated central plan, consists of two abutting volumes. The design of the church reflects the necessity of separating the area reserved for the celebrating clergy and that for the congregation.
