Stockholm
Stockholm's oriental synagogue
This great synagogue was built in an oriental style, and seats about 1,000 guests. In 1870 the eternal flame, Ner Tamid, was lit to inaugurate the synagogue. The services contain organ music and a mixed choir. Women and men are seated together on the right side of the ground level. On the left side only men are allowed. The services are held in Swedish and in Hebrew Mon, Thu and Sat between 9.15am and 12pm, and Fri 5.30pm. There is a further synagogue at Riddargatan and one at St Paulsgatan.
