Stockholm
Characteristic spire
During their country's period of greatness many German merchants moved to Stockholm. They got together in Saint Gertrud's Guild whose cottage was located where this church is today. In 1580 the guild cottage was rebuilt into a church. The tower with its characteristic spire is located at the northwest corner. The portal, built in 1643, is richly decorated with ornaments and pictures by chief stonemason Jost Henne. The other sides were covered with modern machine-made bricks when the church was restored in 1878-87. Between the altar and pulpit there is a royal gallery constructed by Nicodemus Tessin the Elder.
Morning services are held every Sunday at 11am in Swedish and German.
