Solna kyrka

Paintings by Petrus Målare och Albertus Pictor

This church dates from the 1180s, when it was the main church in the region, and the diocese of Solna included the city of Stockholm, Djurgården, half of Lidingö and Sickla. But in 1529 Storkyrkan became the main church and Solna lost ground to the growing Stockholm.

Inside the church there are two sculptures in wood dating from the fifteenth century, a sculpture of the patron saint of Solna, St Martin Riding a Horse, and paintings by Petrus Målare and Albertus Pictor. Some well-known Swedes like August Strindberg, Ingrid Bergman, Vilhelm Moberg and Alfred Nobel are buried here at the north cemetery.

The church is open Saturdays from 11.30am, and morning service is held every Sunday at 11am.
