  • We suggest bringing a variety of lightweight clothing items that can be layered to save space in your suitcase and give you more options for how to dress. For more helpful information please refer to our Packing Tips & Packing List.

  • At the end of your guided vacation, it’s customary to offer your motor coach driver and Travel Director a gratuity.  We recommend $4-5 per person/per day for your driver and $6-7 per person/per day for your Travel Director.  Recommended gratuity for a Local Host and Local Specialist is 1-2 dollars per person, paid at the conclusion of each guided visit.  A convenient option is to prepay your tips before your departure.

  • Baggage on our trips is restricted to one large suitcase per person with dimensions not exceeding 30x19x10 inches and a maximum weight of 50 pounds. You are also permitted one piece of hand luggage, which should be small enough to fit under your coach seat or on the small overhead shelf compartment. Please note that luggage with an adjustable handle and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartment of the coach. Hotel porterage is included in your vacation.

  • You will need to be comfortable on your feet, walking and standing for up to three hours in various weather conditions.  All of our vacations involve walking, often on cobblestone and uneven surfaces in historic city centers.  In order to get the most out of your vacation you need to be able to comfortably walk 1-3 miles unassisted in one day, be in good condition and be able to keep pace with the group.

If you need any medications, it is important that you bring enough to last you the whole trip and keep them in your carry-on bag while you travel.

  • We highly recommend our optional Travel Protection Plan, which allows you to cancel for any reason up to 48 hours before departure. The plan also includes trip interruption, baggage loss or delay, and medical and emergency assistance. Click here for a summary of coverage details, terms and conditions.

Adventures in the Wild Northwest Vacation
Service rating : Our travel director was excellent and provided snacks, surprises, and interesting information; he provided quiet time between the tidbits of information. One suggestion: review the manner of getting off the bus. Rotating seats is as it should be; perhaps rotating sides also would be fairer in terms of who gets to go to the bathroom first. As usual, we had many more women than men although it was more equal than many trips that I have been on.
Product : This is a very nice trip although it has extensive riding; that would be expected when you look at the distance to be covered but may not be suitable for everyone. I would not recommend it for young children. We had five children from age 5 to age 13; it was difficult for the five-year-old to manage that much riding and being relatively quiet.

Adventures in the Wild Northwest Vacation
Service rating : This was a very good tour, but lacked any "WoW" factor. The closest thing was the Dune Buggies!
Product : Hotels in Eureka and Coos Bay were below par, however, we had an excellent included dinner in Eureka. The dinner in Newport was not satisfactory. We were in a conference room and the meal was like something served at a business meeting! The chicken and corn were overcooked and the only drink choices were ice tea or water. Several of the buffet breakfasts were not hot. The breakfast in Newport was excellent, but the staff was overwhelmed by 50+ tourists lined up at 0700 and trying to make an 0830 bus, We arrived both mornings before 0700 and were not served until about 0740. The seats in the coach are too close together (worse than on airplanes), and there needs to be a second door. People on this tour are older and if there is an emergency, Those in the back will not get out. Emergency window exits will not allow them to get out by themselves. The Quinault Lodge was old but very nice. It was as nice as some in National Parks. We should have spent another day there and only one day in Portland. At Quinault Lake, there were plenty of nearby opportunities for hiking or exploring. The dinner there was excellent but the breakfast was not warm and no bread or toast was provided. The optional experience in Portland was not worth the money. The local guide was very knowledgeable, but nothing on the walk was that interesting. The meal at Huber's was ordinary. The individual who made the "Spanish Coffee" seemed to be surprise that people would take pictures and contorted his face and body with every flash photo! We did not need two nights in Portland. The "Wild Northwest" is not in the cities! More adventures like the Dune-buggies would be great. A couple of the places we stopped as for lunch on our own were rundown strip malls with little choice of food!
The Travel Director, Tyson, was excellent, very knowledgeable, and willing to work to make things special. He set up a special surprise at a park that include champagne mimosas and pastries! He road his bicycle ahead to the park to prepare for us!
We enjoyed this tour and will likely try GET/Trafalgar again.

Adventures in the Wild Northwest Vacation
Service rating : We were not happy when our original trip dates were canceled and we had to scamper around to make other flight arrangements. GE offered no assistance in out pursuit of this matter.
Product : Trip was great, including the weather. THe driver was excellent and the director showed incredible knowledge of the area both from start to finish.
