  1. Welcome to Texas, the Lone Star State. At 6 p.m. enjoy a Welcome Reception with your Travel Director and fellow travelers.

Join a Local Specialist and start exploring Fort Worth, once known as the biggest and busiest livestock-trading center in the Southwest, famous for its unmistakable mix of cowboys and Texan culture. Start at the Sid Richardson Museum, featuring paintings depicting the American West. Stop for lunch on your own in Sundance Square–a dazzling, 35-block area filled with boutiques, restaurants, bars and art galleries. Next, stop at the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, to learn about the cowboys and cowgirls who have shown excellence in competition, business and support of western lifestyle. End your day with a traditional Fort Worth “Longhorn Cattle Drive,” through the Stockyard Historic District, before a meet and greet with the cowboys and drivers. This evening, head for renowned Chef Tim Love's Lonesome Dove Western Bistro for a Regional Meal.

  3. Meet your Local Specialist and start exploring the city. Discover the historical heart of the downtown district and hear fascinating tales surrounding the legends and mysteries of the area. View Pioneer Plaza, commemorating the trails that brought settlers to Dallas and cattle to market, the Historic West End and the infamous Dealey Plaza. Learn all about a moment in history at the 6th Floor Museum, the somber location from which Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President John F. Kennedy in 1963. This afternoon, enjoy a nostalgic visit to Southfork Ranch, made famous by the international hit TV series Dallas. Visit the famed Ewing Ranch, featuring an exciting array of show memorabilia. In the evening, there is an optional championship rodeo show featuring bull riding, trick roping, cowboy songs and an insight into the sport of rodeo and a meet and greet with bull riders (when available).
  4. Head south for Waco where you visit the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum to learn about the famed law enforcement agency. Later, arrive in Austin, Texas' state capital and a beautiful city located along the banks of the Colorado River.

Meet your Local Specialist and enjoy a guided tour of city landmarks including the Governor's Mansion, Congress Avenue, Historic Sixth Street, the Paramount Theater, the grounds of the Texas State University and the pink granite Texas State Capitol. The afternoon is free in Austin for you to explore this fabulous city further at your own pace. Perhaps stroll along Sixth Street, where you'll hear the sounds that make Austin the “Live Music Capital of the World.” From jazz and blues to Rock ‘n Roll and country, Austin's nearly 200 live music venues all vie for attention. This evening, enjoy an exclusive Be My Guest experience with true Texan hospitality while enjoying a typical barbecue feast.

  6. This morning, journey to the heart of Texas Hill Country and visit the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Site. Learn all about LBJ and Lady Bird at their beloved ranch as you explore the Texas White House. Journey to the beautifully preserved German village of Fredericksburg. Take a leisurely stroll in the historic district, surrounded by turn-of-the-century architecture, history, heritage, and culture. Then take a short drive to Bandera, the “Cowboy Capital of the World,” for a ranch experience. Learn how to dance the Cotton-Eyed Joe and the Texas Two-Step. A Regional Meal is served with all the trimmings while you are entertained by live music and dancing. Later, join a storyteller around a campfire with s'mores before retiring to your hotel.

  7. Continue further into the south Texas plains arriving in San Antonio, a city rich in history and culture, originally settled by the Spanish who built a mission here–The Alamo. On arrival, enjoy a guided tour with a Local Specialist and explore San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The missions were first established in the 17th century, with the aspiration to spread Christianity to the local indigenous peoples. Visit Mission Conception before stopping at El Mercado, a traditional and vibrant market, where you have a chance to sample typical treats. This evening, walk along the famous San Antonio River Walk, a delightful network of walkways along the banks of the San Antonio River. Board a private barge and cruise the San Antonio River canals as you learn more about San Antonio's history.

  8. After breakfast, visit The Alamo, site of the famous, pivotal battle in the Texas Revolution. It was here, in 1836, that the Mexican army besieged a seriously outnumbered group of settlers, including Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie, for nearly two weeks before they were overrun. See the San Fernando Cathedral, seat of the Archbishop and one of the oldest cathedrals in the United States, and explore King William Historic District to see more of San Antonio's magnificent architecture. The rest of the day is free.
  9. Head to Houston, the state's largest and most diverse city, stopping in Schulenburg—home to some beautiful painted churches. Once in Houston, meet your Local Specialist for a guided tour including Minute Maid Park, home to the Houston Astros baseball team; Market Square Park, a historic square surrounded by 19th century buildings; the original courthouse and City Hall; the Theater District and the Texas Medical Center, the largest in the world. Visit the JPMorgan Chase Tower's observation deck (subject to availability), perched on the 60th floor with great views over the city and pop into the Houston tunnel system, a network of climate-controlled walkways located 20 feet (6 meters) below ground and connecting 95 city blocks. This evening, get together with your newfound friends for a “Farewell to Texas Dinner.”

  • At the end of your guided vacation, it’s customary to offer your motor coach driver and Travel Director a gratuity.  We recommend $4-5 per person/per day for your driver and $6-7 per person/per day for your Travel Director.  Recommended gratuity for a Local Host and Local Specialist is 1-2 dollars per person, paid at the conclusion of each guided visit.  A convenient option is to prepay your tips before your departure. 

  • Baggage on our trips is restricted to one large suitcase per person with dimensions not exceeding 30x19x10 inches and a maximum weight of 50 pounds. You are also permitted one piece of hand luggage, which should be small enough to fit under your coach seat or on the small overhead shelf compartment. Please note that luggage with an adjustable handle and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartment of the coach. Hotel porterage is included in your vacation.

  • You will need to be comfortable on your feet, walking and standing for up to three hours in various weather conditions. All of our vacations involve walking, often on cobblestone and uneven surfaces in historic city centers. In order to get the most out of your vacation you need to be able to comfortably walk 1-3 miles unassisted in one day, be in good condition and be able to keep pace with the group.

    If you need any medications, it is important that you bring enough to last you the whole trip and keep them in your carry-on bag while you travel.

  • We highly recommend our optional Travel Protection Plan, which allows you to cancel for any reason up to 48 hours before departure.
