Not all areas included on this tour are accessible by motor vehicle. Visiting ancient ruins and a handful of other listed sites may require some walking, sometimes on cobblestone streets. Be sure to pack comfortable and safe walking shoes and get ready to enjoy these fascinating attractions up close and personal.

This tour requires moderate physical activity. You should be in good health, able to climb stairs and walk slightly longer distances, possibly over uneven grounds and cobblestone streets.

DAY 1 USA - Budapest

VIP Door-to-Door Transfer to your local airport for your overnight flight to Budapest.

DAY 2 Arriving Budapest

Arrive at Budapest Ferihegy International Airport where you’ll be transferred to the ship.

DAY 3 Budapest

Today for your included sightseeing you have the choice of savoring the beauty of both Buda and Pest, which lie on opposite sides of the Danube, with a panoramic coach tour that shows all the key highlights of this gorgeous city, or you can choose to join a walking discovery that includes a visit to the Hungarian Parliament building and Market Hall, as well as a downtown stroll along Váci Utca, the main shopping street.

DAY 4 Cruising the Danube River, Vienna

Enjoy a day of leisure onboard your floating hotel as your ship winds its way up the enchanting Danube and meanders through a series of locks, through Slovakia, and under bridges en route to the imperial city of Vienna, where you will arrive in the early evening.

DAY 5 Vienna

On your panoramic drive through the city you’ll discover that Vienna is a treasure trove of secular and sacred gems, such as St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Next, for your included sightseeing you have the choice of a Vienna city tour and National Library visit, or “See Vienna as the Viennese Do” – an exclusive waltzing discovery of Viennese daily life.

DAY 6 Durnstein, cruising the Wachau Valley, Melk

Awaken in the tiny Baroque village of Dürnstein and visit Domäne Wachau for a tasting of the famous Wachau Valley Rieslings. Enjoy a leisurely exploration of this charming village on foot. Then cruise the vineyard-rich, UNESCO World Heritage-designated Wachau Valley—one of the most beautiful river valleys in Europe, where some of Austria’s finest white wines are produced. When you arrive in Melk, you will be able to see the 900-year-old abbey situated high atop the granite cliffs of the Danube. You will then enjoy a guided tour of this Benedictine abbey, a breathtaking masterpiece of Baroque art and architecture, whose famous library was an inspiration for “The Name of the Rose”.

DAY 7 Linz (Salzburg to Gmunden/Stryr)

Today’s adventure takes you to Salzburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well-preserved medieval town core and musical heritage. For your included sightseeing you have the choice of a guided walking tour, marvel at the city’s 15th-century cathedral; stroll its famous shopping street, Getreidegasse, where you can also pass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s childhood home; and admire the Mirabellgarten, which was featured in the beloved film “The Sound of Music”. Or if you’ve already discovered Salzburg in the past, you can choose a three-quarter- day visit to Gmunden and Steyr. Quaint Gmunden will delight you with its Alpine panorama, and Steyr has one of the best-preserved Old Towns in Austria. Its lovely historic center houses the famed Bummerlhaus (“plump little dog”) – one of the finest pieces of Gothic residential architecture in Central Europe.

DAY 8 Passau

Passau’s historic wealth through trade is reflected in the beauty of its medieval merchants’ houses. The city’s Italian Baroque buildings, erected after the big fire of 1662, match the historic town center with its winding little streets and narrow alleyways. These streets will lead us to St. Stephan’s Cathedral for an organ concert on Europe’s largest pipe organ.
