 Arrive in Palermo for a relaxing two-night stay. This evening enjoy a Welcome Drink and dinner with your Tour Director.

 Sicily has long been a great melting pot of the Mediterranean world. The Greeks, Phoenicians, Romans, Normans, French and Spanish have all left their mark on this beautiful island. Enjoy a full day of sightseeing in its capital, Palermo, and surroundings with our resident expert. Visit the Cathedral (subject to times of service), Piazza Bellini and the Arab-Norman Palatine Chapel. This afternoon enjoy a highlight visit to the 12th-century Benedictine Abbey of Monreale, famous for its beautiful Byzantine mosaics. Return to Palermo via Monte Pellegrino for an evening at leisure.

| Day 4 Palermo - Segesta - Marsala - Agrigento |

 Our first stop is to the elegant 5th century BC Temple of Segesta. Continue to Marsala for included wine tasting. Later in Agrigento, with our local expert, we visit the gigantic Greek ruins in the amazing Valley of the Temples, a site that rivals Athens and Delphi.

| Day 5 Agrigento - Piazza Armerina - Mt Etna - Giardini Naxos |

 The day begins with a scenic drive into the heart of Sicily past Enna, a strategic fortress town perched high on a sheer rock. Enjoy a stop near Piazza Armerina to visit the 4th-century Roman Villa of Casale. Hunting scenes and even girls in 'Roman bikinis' are depicted in its perfectly preserved mosaics. Continue through Sicilian vineyards to Mt. Etna, Europe’s largest volcano. See the Silvestre Crater and walk through the lava domes! Arrive in the resort of Giardini Naxos for three relaxing nights. This evening, enjoy the freedom of your Dine-Around program and choose from a selection of restaurants recommended by your Tour Director.

| Day 6 Giardini Naxos (Taormina Included) |

 A special tour this morning to Taormina, one of the highlights of Sicily, located on the slopes of Monte Tauro and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea with Mt. Etna as its backdrop. Our sightseeing tour includes the Old Town, the quaint shops along Corso Umberto and a visit to Taormina’s Greek Theatre with its exceptional acoustics. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure.

| Day 8 Giardini Naxos - Straits of Messina - Sorrento |

 Today we travel north to board our ferry and cross the Straits of Messina to Calabria — the toe of Italy. Enjoy the beautiful views of the rugged coastline as we head to the cliff-top town of Sorrento. This evening, our Explore & Discover event brings you closer to the locals as we enjoy dinner with a local family.

| Day 9 Sorrento |

 Experience the beauty of the dramatic Amalfi coastline today with a view of the Bellevue of Positano. Enjoy stops in Cave dei Marini and Amalfi, the coast’s largest town, with its lovely 10th century Duomo. We pause in Ravello for a visit to the Gardens of Villa Rufolo before returning to Sorrento for an evening at leisure.

 A day at leisure allows you to relax and explore Sorrento. Perhaps take an optional excursion via high-speed jetfoil to the legendary Isle of Capri, a magnet for the rich and famous and a photographer’s paradise.

| Day 11 Sorrento - Pompeii - Rome |

 The day begins with a visit to the vibrant and colorful city of Naples for a guided tour of the Archeological Museum, which contains some of the world’s greatest Greco-Roman treasures. Next we visit Pompeii, the Roman town both destroyed and preserved by an eruption of Mt. Vesuvius almost 2,000 years ago. This afternoon continue along the 'Highway of the Sun' to the Eternal City of Rome.

 Your guided sightseeing tour views the Circus Maximus and visits the famous Colosseum. The balance of the day is free to relax in a sidewalk café, perhaps see Michelangelo’s magnificent statue of Moses, visit the catacombs on the Appian Way or marvel at the Sistine Chapel. This evening enjoy a Highlight Farewell Dinner in a local Roman restaurant.
