Start the day with an
entertaining Explore & Discover™ event at
the Scottish National Piping Center where our
resident expert explains the story behind the
bagpipes and demonstrates this very Scottish
tradition! This afternoon, continue into ‘Robert
Burns’ country. Visit his thatched-roof cottage in
Alloway, birthplace of this great Scottish poet, and view the nearby Brig-a-Doon of Tam O’Shanter fame. Full Breakfast Included |
| Day 4 Glasgow - Sterling Castle - Loch Lomond - Glencoe: |
|
This morning an Explore & Discover™ insight into Victorian life and a visit to the Scottish Trust’s “Tenement House.” This first floor flat retains most of the original Victorian features such as kitchen range, bathroom and even coalbunker. Many of the personal possessions of Miss Agnes Toward, who lived here for over 50 years, present a
fascinating picture of domestic life at the
beginning of the 20th-century. We later visit
Stirling Castle, perched high on a rock overlooking the fields of “Braveheart” fame and the sight of Wallace’s victory in the battle of Stirling Bridge. Travel through the Trossachs National Park to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond where we enjoy a highlight scenic cruise.
We then continue to eerie Glencoe, sight of the terrible massacre of the MacDonald clan by the Campbells. Full Breakfast and Dinner Included |
| Day 5 Glencoe (Mull & Iona Included): |

Ferry across Loch Linnhe this morning to the Isle of Mull and enjoy a scenic drive before a short crossing to the Isle of Iona. This is the burial place of many Scottish kings and chiefs, including Macbeth. We visit the Center of Celtic Christianity before returning to our hotel. Full Breakfast and Dinner Included |
| Day 6 Glencoe - Loch Ness- Wick: |
|
Passing Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, we journey through a land of lost lakes and barren mountains. Continue to majestic Dunrobin Castle, built in 1275 and for centuries the home of the Dukes of Sutherland. Enjoy a fascinating falconry display before arriving in Wick at the tip of Scotland for dinner and another 2-night stay. Full Breakfast and Dinner Included |
| Day 7 Wick (Orkney Islands Included): |

A short ferry crossing to the Orkney Islands this morning to see the Scapa Flow, where the German Fleet of 70 ships scuttled itself in World War I. We visit the Italian Chapel, built by Italian prisoners of war in 1943 and Skara Brae to see the remains of a 5,000-year-old Neolithic village! We then see the Orkney’s Stonehenge, Ring of Brodgar and the picturesque island capital of Kirkwall of Viking origin before returning to Wick. Full Breakfast and Dinner Included |
| Day 8 Wick - Culloden - Highlands: |

Pause for a wee dram at a local Scottish whisky distillery before this mornings fascinating Explore & Discover™ event with a visit to a local kilt maker to see how these garments are made. Our journey continues along the North Sea coast. Enjoy the wild breathtaking landscapes as you sit back and relax – this is Scotland as you’ve always imagined it! Pause at the battlefield Culloden where we enter the visitor center to hear about the defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s clans at the hands of the English army. This mornings Explore & Discover™ event brings you closer to the heart of the Highlands. Learn first hand about life on a Scottish sheep farm. Enjoy a sheepdog demonstration and hear from the shepherd about the realities of maintaining this rural life in the 21st-century. Our journey then takes us to Glamis Castle, seat of the Earls of Strathmore and according to tradition, where Macbeth murdered King Duncan. Full Breakfast and Dinner Included |
| Day 10 Highlands - St. Andrews - Edinburgh: |

Over the Cairngorn Mountains via St. Andrews, the home of golf and the famous Old Course, we head to Scotland’s capital Edinburgh for a relaxing

| Day 11 Edinburgh: |

Bustling Princes Street, the Royal Mile and a visit to the imposing Edinburgh Castle are all included on our guided sightseeing tour
of this “Athens of the North.” Listen out for the
castle’s famous “One O’clock Gun.” Later, we visit
Holyrood House, the Queen’s official residence in
Scotland and where Mary Queen of Scots once lived
before losing her head! Time this afternoon for
shopping in the lovely little wool and crystal shops that line Castle Hill. This evening, selected departures enjoy the Military
Tattoo on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle – a colorful mixture of historic battles and modern military maneuvers of massed Scottish

A day at leisure to enjoy this Prince of Cities. Perhaps take the chance to follow in the steps of
