Trip Itinerary
DAY 1 USA - Lisbon
VIP Door-to-Door Transfer to your local airport for your overnight flight to Lisbon.
DAY 2 Arrive Lisbon
Welcome to Portugal! On arrival at Lisbon Airport your airport shuttle service leaves for the tour hotel at 09:30, 12:30 & 15:30. Later, join your Tour Director for a welcome drink.
DAY 3 Lisbon
Begin your stay with an included tour of the city stopping at the Monument of the Discoveries, Tower of Belem perched on the banks of the Tagus, and the Hieronymite Monastery. Here we will see the tomb of Vasco da Gama. From this city many of the explorers of the New World set sail, and we will hear about Magellan, Dias and Henry as we tour this exciting Portuguese capital. A tour of the Alfama district and the Liberdade treelined boulevard are also part of our morning sightseeing. In the afternoon, plenty of time to enjoy an optional tour to the Atlantic coast, the beautiful village of Sintra and the pretty harbor of Cascais.

DAY 4 Lisbon - Fatima - Porto
After a leisurely breakfast, head to Fatima to see the shrine and Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary. Continue on to Porto where we see the pastel shades of the buildings, the remarkable bridges across the Douro Valley and visit one of the many port wine cellars for a tasting. Balance of the afternoon is free to explore the downtown area.

DAY 5 Porto - Santiago de Compostela - Leon
This morning enjoy a special stop in Santiago de Compostela to the 11th and 12th-century cathedral, resting place of the relics of Spain’s patron saint, St. James, and destination of pilgrims from all parts of Europe since the Middle Ages. See the magnificent façade and enjoy free time before departing for Leon.

DAY 6 Leon - Burgos - San Sebastian
On the way to the Basque country, we stop in Burgos, the land of El Cid and where you can see his burial place. Then, through the famous Rioja wineproducing region, we continue to San Sebastian for a relaxing twonight stay by the Gulf of Biscay.

DAY 7 San Sebastian (Bilbao & the Guggenheim Museum)
This morning, we enjoy an excursion to nearby Bilbao where we visit the spectacular and modern Guggenheim Museum, designed by the North American architect Frank O. Gehry. The afternoon is at leisure to stroll along San Sebastian’s boardwalk or through the narrow alleys of its charming downtown area.

DAY 8 San Sebastian - Pamplona - Barcelona
First stop this morning is Pamplona, the city of the running of the bulls. Perhaps take a stroll to the famous Estafeta Street before we pass by the Navarra wine – producing region and continue to Catalonia’s Barcelona, Spain’s second largest city for a leisurely three night stay. For dinner this evening, enjoy the freedom of your Dine- Around program, and choose from a selection of restaurants recommended by your Tour Director.

DAY 9 Barcelona (Montserrat Included)
Barcelona, host of the 1992 Olympic Games, abounds in historical sights including the magnifi cent Cathedral, which we visit, the old Gothic Quarter and Gaudi’s unusual Sagrada Familia Church. See the Columbus Monument and the elegant Paseo de Gracia during your morning tour. Then, continue to Montserrat to marvel at the dramatic peaks surrounding this peaceful place of pilgrimage.

DAY 10 Barcelona
Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Spain’s most vibrant city. Consider strolling along the Rambla and visiting the superb Picasso Museum and Gaudi’s Guell Park.

DAY 11 Barcelona - Valencia
This morning, we enjoy a beautiful drive along the Mediterranean coast to the Spanish orange capital, Valencia. Our panoramic sightseeing tour of this 2000- year old city will show us the Old Ramparts contrasting with Santiago Calatrava’s futuristic and spectacular architecture of the buildings of the City of Arts and Science. The rest of the afternoon is free.

DAY 12 Valencia - Madrid
Our morning drive takes us to Madrid, the capital city of Spain. Our afternoon sightseeing tour takes us to view the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol and Plaza España with its monument to Cervantes. Then on to a highlight visit to the palatial Prado Museum, one of the world’s greatest art galleries with works by El Greco, Goya, Italian and Dutch masters.

DAY 13 Madrid
Enjoy your last day in Madrid to further explore this cosmopolitan city or consider taking an optional tour to Toledo, Spain’s old capital. Tonight, we say our goodbyes to our newfound friends during an included Highlight Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 14 Madrid - USA
We bid farewell to Madrid as we are transferred to the airport for our return fl ight home. Departure transfers arrive at Madrid Airport at 07:00, 09:00 & 11.00.
