Serbia, officially the Republic of Serbia, is a country located at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe, covering the southern part of the Pannonian Plain and the central Balkans. Serbia is landlocked and borders Hungary to the north; Romania and Bulgaria to the east; Macedonia to the south; and Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro to the west; it also claims to border Albania through the disputed territory of Kosovo. The capital of Serbia, Belgrade, is among Europe's oldest cities and one of the largest in Southeast Europe.

Your Serbian weather forecast will depend on where you plan to spend your vacation. The northern parts of Serbia experience cold winters and hot, humid summers. As you move south toward the Adriatic Sea, the climate is milder and the summers and falls are drier. Expect heavy snowfall in the mountains during the colder months of the year -- ideal for skiing in Serbia.

Central and Southern Europe mingle in the varied terrain of landlocked Serbia, which sits on the Balkan Peninsula and the Pannonian Plain. Serbia's landscape is a patchwork of rushing rivers, green hills, dense forests, sprawling agricultural plains and stunning Alpine valleys and peaks -- the peaks being the scenic result of four diferent mountain systems. Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, marks the meeting point of the Danube and Sava Rivers.
Serbia shares its jagged borders with Hungary to the north, Romania to the northeast, Bulgaria to the southeast, Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania to the south, Montenegro to the southwest, Bosnia & Herzegovina to the west and Croatia to the northwest.
