(1) Several difficulties working with GET over flights. Original flight confirmations never booked, resulting in those flights lost and less desirable flights having to be booked. Had to constantly remind agent to NOT book economy but premium. (2) GET never told us or helped us verify what papers were going to be needed to enter Spain. Found out on our own!

Could have been 5 stars except for how COVID related issues were handled. Although a "well-being director" was on the bus, precautions were not taken to keep people safe. Because of the loose protocols, several tourists ended up with COVID by the end of the tour.

Tess has done a great job with the reservations process. We originally booked our trip for April 2020 and then were shut down due to covid. We rebooked for April 2022 and the reservation process was very smooth.
Vacation
The first part of our tour was excellent. We had wonderful experiences with our tour director Philippe and bus driver Georges. The optional excursions are all very well worth it. However, when people started getting sic with covid towards the end of the trip, the support for the TD and guest travel services was not what we would have expected. Information was incomplete or wrong. We had the wrong phone number and email address for emergency guest services contact. Untangling everything took a tremendous amount of work on our part. We are still not home yet but are hoping to fly on Monday May 2. We had to find resources for covid recovery certificates and make our own hotel stay extensions.

This time, we felt rushed at every venue. We didn’t have enough free time for shopping and little guidance for shopping.. Additionally, at the end of the trip several travelers tested positive for COVID, including me and my girlfriend. That was a bummer.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We are very sorry to hear that and hope you are both recovered and home safe and sound with happy memories of the trip.

Grand European Travel employees are very easy to talk to and informed about all their available trips from all divisions of The Travel Corp. We have taken trips with all three Insight Vacations, Trafalgar and Costsaver without any problems or mishaps. GET arranges all flights for us and takes care of any complications including COVID and has answers for all my wife's concerns to make all trips enjoyable. Their online services work well and are very easy and the phone services get immediate answers and fast call backs when needed.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We love hearing how everything comes together to make for a wonderful vacation. Thank you for your repeat business and for taking the time to share your comments.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful when planning the trip. However, we were not informed that we would be traveling as Insight and not GETours. We figured it out when the Tour Director sent us a note just a few days before our departure. It left us a little confused as to whether we were booked on the correct tour.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We apologize for any confusion. We do try to make it clear in our brochure and on our website that our trips are operated by our sister companies, but it looks like you had a wonderful time and we are so pleased to see that. Thank you for taking the time to share your comments.

Service
Everyone at GET did a great job. They were courteous and easy to work with through the issues associated with the pandemic. My only reason for not giving a 5 star rating was the lack of communication regarding Insight. When we booked the tour, Trafalgar was listed as the tour operator and then suddenly, with no explanation, Insight took over. While this may seem minor, I would have expected communication from GET to explain Insight's participation. It wasn't until we spoke with the tour guide in Spain that we were informed of all of the relationships within the corporation.

This was the first organized tour we have taken, aside from cruises, and it exceeded our expectations. The tour director, coach driver and local guides were all first class. All of the included and optional tours were well organized and planned. I especially liked the lunch with locals. Very well done. We will definitely recommend this to our friends.

The tour director was very knowledgeable about Spain and Portugal and the cities that we visited and the local guides were very good. There were the lunchtime visits with local businesses such as winemaking and olive oil production The tour director was well organized and attentive to details with the tour going smoothly. In particular, she arranged for the Covid 19 tests required in Portugal and to return to the U.S. The coaches were comfortable to ride on and the driver was experienced and good at navigating tight turns. The hotels we stayed in were very nice and in the best parts of town.
