  • Malaysia and Singapore both have an equatorial climate with high temperatures and are distinctly humid all year. Temperatures vary little from month to month and there is little daily range of temperature.

  • Singapore and Malaysia observes their own respective time year-round (GMT +8). There are no Daylight Saving Time clock changes.

  • American citizens are required to have a passport valid for at least six months to enter Singapore and Malaysia, but Americans do not need to obtain a visa in advance.

  • When in Singapore, you'll use the Singapore dollar. The Malaysian unit of currency is called the Ringgit (RM), and it is divided into 100 sen. There are no import or customs restrictions for currency in Singapore, you can bring as much money as you wish in any currency. We recommend bringing a combination of credit and debit cards; it is important that you inform your financial institutions of your travel plans before you leave home so they don’t flag your purchases as fraudulent charges.

  • The import of meat or meat products (dried, canned etc.), plants, seeds, vegetables, fruits, livestock, endangered wildlife species and products thereof (for example clothing & accessories) into the United States and Canada is prohibited. This includes Ostrich eggs & animal skins.

  • Please check in at least three hours prior to departure for international flights, two hours for regional flights and 90 minutes prior for domestic flights. Please reconfirm all onward flights at least 72 hours prior to departure. Local airline numbers are listed on your flight itinerary enclosed with your documents. You will be charged an airport tax of RM40.00 is charged upon departure on any international flight. 

  • Both Singapore and Malaysia are known as wonderful shopping areas. shopping in Singapore is considered the national pastime. Bringing back Batik and songket (traditional Malaysian textiles), Boh Tea, Nutmeg Oil, or Durian Chocolate will surly delight those receiving them. Fabulous knick knacks and other memorable finds can be bought in the array of markets that speckle the city of Singapore.

  • Both Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine take influence from Chinese, Indian, Malay and Peranakan cultures. Chicken rice is the most famous dish of the area. Anthony Bourdain once declared it one of his top meals to eat! It's light, fragrant, and simple but incredibly delicious!

  • Pack light, cool, and casual clothing on most occasions. On formal occasions, jackets, ties, or long-sleeved batik shirts on men are recommended, while women should wear dresses. Plan on covering up in holy places, don't wear beach shorts off the beach, and remember that Malaysia and Singapore are both still conservative countries.

  • Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before every trip. These vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, and your yearly flu shot. It is your responsibility to check with your doctor well in advance of leaving home about the Yellow Fever requirements for the countries you'll be visiting.

  • Baggage on our trips is restricted to one large suitcase per person with dimensions not exceeding 30x19x10 inches and a maximum weight of 50 pounds. You are also permitted one piece of hand luggage, which should be small enough to fit under your coach seat or on the small overhead shelf compartment. Please note that luggage with an adjustable handle and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartment of the coach. Hotel porterage is included in your vacation.

  • You will need to be comfortable on your feet, walking and standing for up to three hours in various weather conditions.  All of our vacations involve walking, often on cobblestone and uneven surfaces in historic city centers.  In order to get the most out of your vacation you need to be able to comfortably walk 1-3 miles unassisted in one day, be in good condition and be able to keep pace with the group. If you need any medications, it is important that you bring enough to last you the whole trip and keep them in your carry-on bag while you travel.
