It was very easy to sign up for the tour, save money by booking and paying early and prepare for the experience. This was our first tour of this type.

It was a trrip packed with excellent experiences. My wife was not crazy about the rough boat trip to Orkney but we loved learning about this part of the world.

Daniel was very helpful and able to answer all of our questions. It was easy to book the trip and he helped us book our flights which included an extended pre-trip. Everything worked perfectly and our trip was wonderful

Our trip was amazing! The tour guide was excellent. My husband was absolutely thrilled with the extended leg room on the bus. Having 40 people in the group made it much more enjoyable than packing in another twenty or so people. We had a wonderful time

All Insight tour guides were excellent, local people who really knew what they were talking about. It was obvious that Michael Doughty worked hard to make everything right; he never got upset when something wasn't perfect.
Vacation
Surely received that which we paid for. My GET representative, Alicia, was also excellent.

Service
The tour itself was excellent. The booking of travel was not so good. Our seating was not scheduled and we ended up sitting far back in the airplane. We also had very long times in the airport. We were not impressed with the flight scheduling.
Vacation
We loved everything that was on the plan but would have enjoyed going to Rosslynn Chapel when we were in Edinburgh. All the tours from there were 6 hours and we could not squeeze it in when we arrived at 9 in the morning because of having to wait until 11 for the transport to the hotel. All the scenery in Northern Scotland was fabulous. Especially appreciated Skara Brae.

Really enjoyed it. Wished that I had a little bit more time in each location but don't know what I would have cut out to have this time. Tarryn was a wonderful guide.

Easy to reach my travel consultant who was pleasant and knowledgeable. Had a bit of confusion on whether to book airline through GET or on my own but it worked out.
Vacation
Almost all of the trip was wonderful and more than met my expectations. The hotel in Thurso was subpar with old and worn décor, a huge bathroom with mostly empty space and a shower too small to even close the door easily. I get that there's little to choose from in Thurso but this was a miserable experience topped off by a hairdryer that caught fire when used. Their food, however, was excellent; some of the best of all the hotels we stayed in and the people were very nice.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We ae sorry to hear about the conditions at the Thurso hotel. You are correct, there are not a lot of options in that area but we still strive to provide comfortable and quality accommodations for all trips. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Service
Only one hour hour was provided for lunch and to visit places of interest in the towns. We were told to buy a take out, sandwiches wrapped in plastic etc., buy a drink and try to find a place to sit and eat, even when it was raining. Not enough time to eat in a pub and visit the town. When asked for an extra half hour, the tour director made a very sarcastic comment.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We apologize that the schedule for this trip left you feeling rushed. The Travel Directors do need to stick to a somewhat tight schedule in order for the daily sightseeing to be completed on time. We will share your feedback with our team, however, in hopes they can make some improvements.

Vacation
On one occasion our hotel room was so hot we had to get fans and leave the door to the hall open. We could not open the window very much and the bathroom, extremely small, was almost a sauna. The tour director, although very sarcastic to myself and my partner, was very knowledgeable except she made an error on an occasion and when told, in private, about the error, her reply again was sarcastic! The bus drivers were great as were the city guides. In Edinburgh, the Royal Yacht Britannia, was not offered as an excursion! We chose to omit the ghost tour for this icon of history!

Knowable and helpful.
Vacation
Sites were amazing. Great locations and good tours with knowledgeable guides. Our tour director, Rory was great. He was knowledgeable, helpful and had a great personality. Our driver, Arthur, was more than your average driver. He maneuvered the narrow roads easily and carefully. We always felt safe. Lodging mostly good; food average. Some hotel rooms were too small to get around easily for average sized people. Breakfasts were predictable and not very tasty. Over cooked in steam trays! The hotels should be asked to do better. Dinners were better. Side trip meals were good.
