  1. Day 1 Welcome to Athens

    An Insight host will meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel, where there is time to settle in and relax. At 19:00, join your Travel Director for a Welcome Reception and get to know your fellow travellers over a delightful evening of dinner and wine.

  2. Day 2 Athens Sightseeing

    Today your mythical Grecian discovery encapsulates the intriguing history of ancient Greece. Begin with an exploration revealing the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Arch of Hadrian. Next, your Local Expert takes you to the Acropolis, one of the most important ancient sites in the Western world. Crowning the top is the Parthenon, visible from almost everywhere in the city. See the Temple of Athena Nike, also known as the Temple of the Wingless Victory, and the six stone-carved caryatids that make up the Porch of the Maidens on the Erechtheion. The rest of your day is at leisure.

  3. Day 3 Depart for Santorini

    Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to the port for the early ferry to Santorini. Famed for the scattered white Cycladic houses that rest upon its cliffs, Santorini is a dreamy getaway. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and take time to relax. Why not take a dip in the pool? In the evening join your fellow travellers for a refreshing cocktail as you watch the sunset over the caldera and the Aegean Sea.

  4. Day 4 Santorini Relaxed Start

    Today you’ll delve into the geological history of Santorini. In the morning a local geology expert will divulge secrets about this volcanic island and the caldera, revealing the details of its formation. The rest of the day is yours at leisure. Why not head out for a swim at Ammoudi Bay, to visit the Santorini Wine Museum or ask your Travel Director for some restaurant recommendations?

  5. Day 5 Santorini at leisure

    With a day at leisure, why not take the opportunity to visit the site of Akrotiri, an ancient city covered by volcanic ash and unearthed in 1967. If shopping is to your liking, spend your time walking the white walled alleyways, browsing the many shops and taking in the breathtaking views of the caldera.

  6. Day 6 Mykonos Sightseeing Relaxed Start

    After your breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the port for the ferry sailing to Mykonos. Upon arrival you'll be transferred to your hotel. Explore the town of Mykonos with a Local Expert and discover the maze of pretty alleyways of stunning Cycladic houses, lining the island mountainside. See the famous windmills, the Matoyinnia Alleys and of course Little Venice.Later, make a welcoming stop to taste a selection of local delicacies and learn the secrets of Mykonian Cuisine.

  7. Day 7 Mykonos at Leisure Relaxed Start

    Today you’ll have free time to explore as you wish with many exciting adventures to choose from. Why not take a transfer to the picturesque Mykonos Town and explore the beautiful port area? Or perhaps visit Delos, a small island off the coast. The island is an archaeological site that houses iconic ruins, including Doric temples, markets, an amphitheatre and mosaics. The mythological birthplace of Apollo, it is one of the most unique sights worldwide, with ongoing excavations and a beautiful small museum.

  8. Day 8 Mykonos Relaxed Start

    Board your kaiki, a traditional boat and meet a Greek captain to cruise around the stunning, world-famous Little Venice of Mykonos. Sit back and relax as you enjoy views of the iconic windmills. (weather permitting).

  9. Day 9 Depart Mykonos

    After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred to the port of Mykonos to board the ship to Piraeus in Athens. Once here you will be met at the port and transferred to your Athens hotel. There is time in the afternoon for you to do some last-minute sightseeing, souvenir shopping or just relax at your hotel. Enjoy your last night with your fellow travellers at a Celebration Dinner to toast your experiences.

Take a relaxing trip down to the southernmost tip of Mainland Greece to see the fifth-century BC Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. See if you can spot where Byron carved his initials on one of the temple’s sixteen columns. Marvel at the sheer rugged beauty of the coastline and the ancient temple perched above a 197-foot drop down to the Aegean Sea below. Stand above the site of the world’s first lighthouse, overlooking an area steeped in classical Greek history, ever since the tragic King Aegeas threw himself from the rocky precipice into the sea below, thereby giving his name to the Aegean Sea.

Essence of Thera with Akrotiri and Oia Visit

This morning embark on an unforgettable quest, driving through amazing landscapes and picturesque villages.  Today you will discover Santorini's true essence and learn its fascinating history spanning from antiquity to modern times.   You will uncover the less-known medieval village of Pyrgos, built at the slopes of the mountain Prophet Elijah, where Cycladic and Venetian-styled architecture blend with panoramic views.  We leave behind the scenes of the middle ages and step into antiquity as we visit one of the most significant archeological sites of Greece, the prehistoric settlement of Akrotiri.  Almost 4 millenniums ago, a huge volcanic eruption buried the whole city in ash, preserving this bronze aged settlement, also referred to as 'Greek pre-historic Pompeii'.  Santorini is also famous for its wine production and distinctive local varieties.  Our next stop of the day is a local Santorini winery where we enjoy a variety of local 'meze' (Greek hors d'oeuvres) and sample the locally produced wines.  Learn about the 'kalathies' vines and the unique way that locals have grown grapes for centuries.  Later in the afternoon, visit the idyllic village of Oia, known as one of the prettiest spots on the island.  With its white-washed houses resting on the clifftops of the caldera, blue-domed churches sprinkled along the charming narrow alleys, cute cafes and restaurants overlooking the volcano, a visit to Oia is must see!

Santorini Island Tour With Visit To Akrotiri

We drive to the highest point of the island - Profitis Ilias for stunning views of the island, and make our way to the village of Pyrgos, to see the iconic blue-domed churches and classic Cycladic architecture. Afterward, we visit the prehistoric Akrotiri – a Bronze Age settlement destroyed by a huge eruption during the 17th century BC and buried under the volcanic ash, preserving the whole city in perfect condition. It is often referred often as “Prehistoric Pompei”. Afterward, we head for the black sand beach of Perivolos, passing picturesque villages. Enjoy a time at leisure on the beach where we can swim, have lunch or do both. Entrance to Akrotiri included.

Sunset On Board

This afternoon we board our large wooden“ caique” and set off to the Volcano. Take the opportunity to climb up to the top of the volcano and experience a real active volcano, or perhaps stay on board, relax and enjoy the amazing view. afterward, swim in the hot springs and enjoy the natural spa-like feeling of the thermal waters. We enjoy a casual dinner with wine on board accompanied by music, and marvel at the sunset and the breathtaking village of Oia high above on the Cliffside. Dinner with wine included. Ancient Delos

We take a boat ride to Delos, once a Sacred Island, the legendary birthplace of God Apollo and his twin sister Artemis. Today Delos is one of the most important archaeological sites of the eastern Mediterranean. We see amongst others, the remains of the Temple of Apollo, the sanctuary of Artemis, the old city and the theater and then walk down the celebrated Lion Street. In the museum of Delos one can admire Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman Sculptures, a collection of vessels from all periods as well as small items of everyday use. Transfers to/from port and entrance included.

Mykonian Discovery

We explore the island, visiting some of the most beautiful beaches and viewing the landscape of inland Mykonos, with its small farms and rocky landscape.
