Excellent air travel connections. Fantastic group of people and great tour director Marisa. Good program although the reverse trip from Zagreb to Vienna would be more exciting. A very good driver, polite and a true gentleman. And weather, I don't know how much GET petitioned in heaven, was perfect.
A little too expensive and without optional tours you couldn't experience the ethnic food. The food in hotels was the same as in USA.

Tour Director and driver were superb! -- 5 stars Hotel locations could have been a closer to city center in Vienna and Dubrovnik (4) Destinations and optional excursions very enjoyable (4.5 stars) -- great mix of city, history, and scenic venues.

Pleasant experience with Barbara Gardner. She was helpful and knowledgeable. This is the second trip we have planned with her.
Itinerary was spectacular. Tour director, Marisa Lukovich was top notch. Give that girl a raise! Our driver was also excellent. I would recommend this trip to anyone. I would have liked hotel rooms with a view (not always on the back side) and the Westin in Zagreb was in need of updates and repair.

we felt cheated this is not the old GET we have been travelling with for years which I have been led to believe by my fellow companions on this trip does not exist any more - it is a name only - in the past I had one agent at the home office when I called now it is anybody - we travel UNIWORLD but I will call them directly and book with them only if they are still independant
Response from Grand European Travel:
We are sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. While every trip and destination is unique, we strive to provide a consistent value and level of service. There is a lot of ground covered on this trip which means some long days driving. We apologize if we missed the mark for you. Grand European Travel

it was all a drive by - too fast, too short at sites, too long on the bus too too much travel and too little site seeing - staff at hotels were very good and really tried to do their best - tour guides were fine except one in Slovenia - Gasper tried his very best but was hampered by pushing the sale of optional trips - I felt sorry for him

I have been on some dozen or so tours with GET. I have rated most of the tours with good marks, but increasingly we have been disappointed with the fact that GET depends on optional tours to provide a good coverage. I see that reflecting the profit motive of the company--advertising a tour that is semi-complete, unless many optional tours are taken.
Response from Grand European Travel:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Our Optional Experiences are designed to complement our itineraries and offer our guests an element of flexibility to tailor their vacation to their own preferences. Some of our guests prefer to use this time to explore independently and at their own leisure or just relax. A full list of all Optional Experiences are included with our travel documents which are delivered 3-4 weeks prior to travel. Nonetheless we understand your concerns and we thank you for bring them to our attention. Grand European Travel-Guest Relations

The tour attempted to crowd too much into the schedule--by strongly promoting the optional tours. Some of those logically should have been part of the standard tour. If all the optional tours were taken, the schedule was much too busy and crowded out free time to explore new places/cities of interest. Most members of this tour were older/retired types who needed a bit slower pace--with even some additional consideration about restroom stops. The tour covered many regions of interest, but often with many steps to climb, making it a less-then-leisurely tour. Members with any walking handicaps were challenged. At times, members were at some risk because of the walking or boating adventures, particularly those at night. I was disappointed, too, that GET/Trafalgar cancelled and combined some tours to fill this one almost completely to the maximum. A group of 45 is too many for the optimum handling of the needs of the travelers. The Croatian coach driver was excellent. The Slovenian tour director seemed to be dedicated to doing a good job. Because of his cultural background, I expect I have to make some allowance there for what I consider inadequacies in the tour management.

Very knowledgeable and entertaining tour director - Nick Krohn
Too little time to really see the cities, have lunch, relax, and do some shopping. Every day was very rushed. This was rated as a leisurely tour. It was not.

We love GET but you really let us down on our May 2014! We were not aware of ANY changes until we reached Vienna! Instead of GET, we ended up with TRAFALGAR! We were extremely disappointed and did NOT book to travel with such a large group of people! Turns out there were many inconsistencies with our travel plans.
Response from Grand European Travel:
Thank you for your feedback. We do indicate in our brochure that this tour is operated by our sister company. We also try to clearly note this on payment receipts and tour documents. I apologize if this was not made clear to you at the time you booked. Grand European Travel-Guest Relations

A beautiful trip! Breathtaking views of the Adriatic and inside of Croatia. Have recommended this trip to many friends. A larger number of people made it difficult to get daily tour guides to handle us. Some of our tours felt rushed accordingly.
