Snake River Float Trip through Grand Teton National Park

This gentle 10-mile float trip runs entirely within Grand Teton National Park, and covers the most scenic stretch of the Snake River in the Jackson Hole Valley. The Snake River is a lifeline to the park’s bison, elk, moose, beaver, pronghorn, deer, bear and 300 different species of birds, including osprey and eagles. Your experienced guide offers in-depth information on the geology of the Grand Tetons and the habitats of the animals you may see. Although we can’t guarantee multiple animal sightings, your chances of spotting wildlife on the Snake River – with its lush willows to feed on and deep-water pools for animals to swim in – are greater here than anywhere else in the park. Operates late May – mid-Sep, subject to weather conditions.

Mount Rushmore Evening Lighting Ceremony

"Join a park ranger at Mount Rushmore’s outdoor amphitheater for this moving patriotic program and sculpture lighting ceremony. The program begins with a short inspirational talk, focusing on the presidents, patriotism and the nation’s history, and is followed by a 20-minute film, 'Freedom: America’s Lasting Legacy.' Watch in wonder as the evening culminates in the slow exposure of light to the monument until it is fully illuminated. Be sure to bundle up as the evenings can be cool.  Operates seasonally, starting at 9 p.m."
Adult Price: $26

Available on Day 8

Badlands National Park

Badlands National Park in southwest South Dakota preserves 244,000 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles and spires blended with the largest protected mixed-grass prairie in America. Without a doubt, a hidden gem in the national park system, the unique beauty of the Badlands landscape is like no other. Sightseers as well as scholarly scientists are attracted to the area for its astounding beauty and the opportunity to peek into an ancient world. And no trip to the Badlands would be complete without a stop at the famous Wall Drug. An establishment that became known for offering free ice water to thirsty travelers in the 1930s is today one of the top roadside attractions in the country.

We called and talked with David. He set up the whole trip for us and everything was done in a professional manner.

GET always does a wonderful job. The Trip was well organized and we not only saw some wonderful park lands but heard very interesting details from our Director Tyson Whtney. I really enjoy having all the details covered by someone else while I enjoy the vacation. Everything was first class as is typical with GET.

The booking agent was knowledgeable, but not very courteous.

This was a great trip. The only thing that didn’t meet my expectations was the two nights at the Lodge in Yellowstone, I was disappointed there was no Wi-Fi, TV, air conditioning or iron/ironing board in the room.
Response from Grand European Travel:
The Lodge is an authentic and rustic accommodation that celebrates the old fashioned charm and history of the area. Many guests appreciate taking a step back in time and "unplugging" but we apologizing that it wasn't to your liking. We are glad to see that you enjoyed the rest of your trip. Thank you for your honest feedback.

Better guides that are concerned about meeting the parameters of the outlined trip, upgrading the hotel/lodges that are used during the trip, more information given up front on day one, being given a list of fellow tour attendees and where they live, name tags and personal intros on the greeting night, never having to handle your own bags and much better meals options for those meals that are included. This is my short list.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We thank you for your suggestions and will pass them on to Trafalgar immediately. We hope that there were some memorable parts of your trip as well.

See previous comments. Al meals that were included were mediocre at best and poor more often, especially the breakfasts.

Sometimes I got answers to my emails and sometimes I didn’t.
Vacation
Lack of complete information at the start of the tour. No name tags at welcome reception. No list of other guests. Lots of jokes by the TD but some details and videos left out. Well-being initiative was a joke and incomplete. WBD was absent two days during tour.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We appreciate your honest feedback and will pass it on to the team at Trafalgar. Traveling during a pandemic is a challenge in itself but we do hope that you were able to enjoy the majority of your trip and the sights of the National Parks.

This was a fabulous tour!! There were challenges with the snow and ice in Yellowstone that kept us from entering, but our Tour Director did a fabulous job of switching things around so that we got to experience even more of the wonders of the area! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone. The Pow Wow was mind blowing!!

Booking the reservation went smoothly. There were no hiccups or suprises.
Vacation
The visit to Yellowstone had to be cancelled because of foul weather. The roads into the Park were snow covered and icy for two + days. It was a disappointment for many on the Tour. The Tour was made by many with the anticipation of seeing Yellowstone. Other than the Yellowstone disappointment, the other stops, sights, and history was excellent. Two improvements ………… Name tags for everyone. Trafalgar said, because their tags were plastic, there were no name tags. To remember everyone's name and location was difficult without name tags. Improved communication …………..Trafalgar to cut down on paper and copy costs tried to communicate with all announcements and updates through word of mouth. With everyone on the Tour, having cell phones, it would make sense to try Emails and Texts for important announcements so they are not missed or misunderstood.
