Day 1: Welcome to Vancouver

A warm welcome is waiting within the soaring peaks of Canada’s Rockies. Your epic Canadian Rockies tour begins in Vancouver, one of the world’s most international and liveable cities. Spend the day discovering the city’s scenic surrounds, then join your Travel Director and fellow travelers for a Welcome Reception this evening.

Day 2: The Delights of Vancouver and Victoria

Vancouver, home to Gastown’s Victorian façades, a vibrant Chinatown and towering Sitka Spruce. Embark on a sightseeing tour of the city’s historic neighborhood, savoring the smells of freshly steamed Siopao in Chinatown before making your way to the leafy sanctuary of Stanley Park for the first Indigenous experience of the day, viewing First Nations totem poles. Gain insights into Indigenous cultures and values during a visit to the Bill Reid Gallery, the only gallery in Canada dedicated to Northwest Indigenous art, on a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience including a docent-led tour and time to explore the gallery on your own. Continue by ferry to Vancouver Island for an orientation of gorgeous Victoria.

Iconic Experience: Victoria Orientation Victoria. A waterfront city of historic sites known for its gardens and British influence. View the Parliament Buildings erected in 1897 with beautiful gardens. Then explore on your own, strolling along the Inner Harbor where you will have the chance to watch street buskers perform or venturing to Victoria's unique shopping areas in Market Square.
Iconic Experience: Stanley Park Totem Poles Go beyond Stanley Park’s iconic seawall with a trip to the famous totem pole display at Brockton Point. Delve into history starting in 1920 when four totem poles from the Alert Region on Vancouver Island were created. Originally located on Lumbermen's arch and Prospect Point, they were moved to their current location at Brockton Point in 1962, with thee display growing over the decades with totem poles from Haida Gwaii and Rivers Inlet.

Day 3: Admire the Colors of Victoria

Today on your Canadian Rockies tour, the Garden City comes to life as you greet the day before opening hours with breakfast at Butchart Gardens, a 55-acre showcase of gorgeous floral gardens that have colorfully transformed a once unused quarry. After breakfast, enjoy time in the garden before the crowds. Spend the rest of the day exploring the walkable capital of British Columbia perhaps treating yourself to high tea or tucking into local fish and chips. Or, join an optional Victoria Whale Watching cruise and keep your eyes peeled for orca and humpback whales, bald eagles, porpoises and seals.

Iconic Experience: Visit Butchart Gardens Buchart Gardens’ lush and expansive garden is a must-see oasis which has been growing in Victoria, BC for over 100 years. With over a million visitors per year, you will love this morning's visit to the gardens before opening hours. Starting with a breakfast on the grounds, you will get to explore the 55-acre garden rich with ever-changing colors and blooms before the crowds arrive.

Day 4: Relax and Enjoy the Outdoors In Kamloops

Cruise by ferry to the home of the Maan Family for a Be My Guest experience at their family-run farm. Meet your hosts, fourth generation owners, and learn how they turned one small berry stand into a farm that now provides quality produce to locals. Get the inside scoop on a behind-the-scenes winery tour or seasonal U-pick experience of their strawberries, raspberries or blueberries followed by a tasty lunch of Indian-inspired fare. Next up, you’ll make your way to Kamloops for a Stays with Stories experience at The South Thompson Inn. Admire the original brick manor and carriage houses of this former racing stable.

From one small berry stand, Maan Farms has grown into a place with something for everyone. Enjoy a local Indian lunch of family recipes with an experience on the farm (seasonal) ranging from U-pick during berry season, behind the scenes winery tour or fall pumpkin patch exploration. You’ll love getting a glimpse of what rural farm life looks like and seeing first-hand different cultures that make up Canada as a melting pot.

Day 5: Gaze Upon Mount Robson

The grand peak of UNESCO-listed Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 12,972 feet (3,954 meters), will make you gasp. Stop at the Mount Robson Visitor Center postcard-worthy views before continuing to the raw wilderness of Jasper National Park, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll spend the next two nights of your Canadian Rockies tour. If you’re eager to start your exploration of the park, join an optional Jasper Guided Hike taking in hills, jagged peaks, forests, meadows, marshes, streams and glacial lakes with a licensed guide.

Day 6: Admire Jasper National Park

Maligne Canyon springs to life this morning on a guided hike. Later, take to the aqua waters and cruise Maligne Lake to Spirit Island (seasonal), admiring views of its three glaciers and Spirit Island. Then kick back with more gorgeous views over a delicious lunch with wine at the lakeside Maligne Lake Chalet. Continue your exploration choosing to join an Optional Experience easy rafting trip down the Athabasca River, a route used by the “fur traders” over two centuries ago, keeping your eyes peeled for local wildlife. Later tonight, take in an optional theater performance highlighting the best of this little mountain town.

Iconic Experience: Guided Maligne Canyon Walk Maligne Canyon promises natural wonders from mosses and lichens on the canyon walls to ice caves, fossils and frozen waterfalls. On this guided walk, admire this incredible natural landmark as you cross bridges built across various points of the canyon. As the deepest canyon in Jasper National Park, you pass incredible sights including a spectacular waterfall that makes for a great photo opp.
Iconic Experience: Maligne Lake Cruise See how Maligne Lake is in a league of its own on a scenic cruise. Discover world-famous Spirit Island and get great photo opportunities with beautiful views of the mountains, its three glaciers and Spirit Island - significant to the Indigenous Stoney Nation. Learn about the geology, wildlife and history of this spectacular alpine destination and how, because visitors cannot walk on the island, it remains an enclave of evergreens. And since you can only see Spirit Island from a cruise, you’ll love being one of the few who get to see it.

Day 7: Voyage to Athabasca Glacier

Get ready for the icy fingers of the Columbia Icefield as you journey along the Icefields Parkway to Athabasca Glacier. Cross its icy terrain, one of the largest non-polar ice fields in the world, on board a specially designed ‘Ice Explorer’. Your Canadian Rockies tour takes you to Lake Louise, where there is time to soak in the majestic beauty of the lake and its turquoise, glacier-fed waters fringed by high peaks, deep forests and overlooked by Victoria Glacier. Continue on to the township of Banff, in the heart of UNESCO-listed Banff National Park.

Learn how the river and falls are fed with water from the Columbia Icefield glaciers, snowmelt from surrounding mountains and rainwater as you admire these small but mighty waters.
Iconic Experience: Visit Lake Louise Get ready for a showstopper. Walk down a forest path before coming up upon the unreal turquoise color of Lake Louise popping through the trees for the first time. After this stunning first-time glance, admire the turquoise waters of Lake Louise and the Victoria Glacier with its scenic mountain backdrop. Day 8: Explore Banff

Banff is yours to explore – and your Travel Director is eager to help plan the perfect day. Opt to take the Banff Gondola Ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain for a bird’s eye view of six mountain ranges of the Canadian Rockies. And after lunch on your own, the Three Sisters Peak or Mt Assiniboine will impress on optional helicopter flights. Then enjoy Banff sightseeing including Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and other local sights. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for a Farewell Dinner celebrating all you’ve seen on your Canadian Rockies Tour.

Descend from the glorious Canadian Rockies and transfer to Calgary International Airport, arriving at approximately 11:30 am, or to the Westin Calgary if you are extending your Canadian Rockies tour.

Victoria Whale Watching Excursion (Available on Day 3)

Get ready for an unforgettable three-hour whale-watching expedition in the waters off Victoria. You have the chance to spot magnificent bald eagles, porpoises or seals. In the spring and summer especially, you may see different species of whales including Bigg’s killer whales (orca), humpback whales, South Resident orca, Minke and grey whales.

From snow-capped peaks to alpine meadows, Jasper National Park is an endless playground. Take a guided nature hike past hills, peaks, forests, meadows, marshes, streams and glacial lakes. Whether you admire wildflowers in shades of red, blue, yellow and white, or the glow of the red, orange and golden Larch and Aspen trees, this hike is beautiful any time of year.

Float down the Athabasca River, a designated Canadian Heritage River. A National Park licensed guide provides commentary on the human and natural history of Jasper while navigating you along the same route used by the “fur traders” over two centuries ago.  Sit back and relax as the guides do the rowing. Keep your eyes peeled for elk, deer, moose, coyotes, wolves, eagles, ospreys, mountain sheep and bears.

Unlock incredible views of six mountain ranges of the Canadian Rockies on the Banff Gondola. Ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain in a fully enclosed four-passenger gondola cabin, soaking in the scenery as you climb to an elevation of 7,486 feet to the Summit Upper Terminal. Enjoy the restaurant or take the Banff Skywalk for a short self-guided interpretive walkway along the summit ridge leading to the Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site of Canada.

It’s one blockbuster after another zipping in a helicopter to Mount Assiniboine - "the Matterhorn" of the Canadian Rockies. Get your camera ready to snap one pic after the next of this photogenic peak rising to 11,870 feet along the Great Divide. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, the Gloria and Assiniboine Glaciers will make your jaw drop. The duration of the flight is thirty-five minutes.

Gear up for the most action packed twenty minutes of your life. You won’t want to miss your chance fly past famous Three Sisters Peaks. Get up close to the peaks before escaping into the Spray Valley where you will explore the wild colors of the Spray Lakes. Return along the Goat Range before following the pristine Bow River back to Canmore.
