With your hotels, transportation, and itinerary all booked, you can focus on the final details. Before you begin packing items into your luggage, it’s important to know what you’re going to need. These checklists will help ensure your trip across the USA is smooth and stress-free.

Planning & Safety Checklist

Beyond knowing how many pairs of socks you need to pack, it’s important to create a checklist for traveling, including to-do items and research before you start packing your bags. Even with your tour arranged, taking care of a few personal details ahead of time will make your trip easier:

☐ Government-Issued ID – Bring a valid photo ID such as a state-issued driver's license or federally issued I.D. Make sure your ID is REAL ID Act Ready to go!

☐ Travel Documents – Keep printed or digital copies of your tour itinerary, confirmations, and any flight details in one central location.

☐ Emergency Contact Info – Share your itinerary with a trusted friend or family member and store their contact information in your phone and wallet.

☐ Valuables – Leave unnecessary jewelry or expensive items at home. If you bring something valuable, be sure it’s insured.

☐ TSA Rules – If flying, review the TSA Travel Checklist and currently Prohibited Items List.

Checklist for Health & Medication

☐ Prescriptions – Bring enough medication to cover the full trip, plus a little extra in case of delays..

☐ Medical Info – Carry your insurance card and a list of your current medications.

☐ Medical Alert – If you have a condition like diabetes or a heart issue, consider a medical ID bracelet or card.

Checklist for Documents & Money

☐ Debit & Credit Cards – Carry at least one credit or debit card. Most destinations are cashless-friendly, but it’s smart to carry some small bills for tips or local stops.

☐ Travel Wallet – Use a small wallet or pouch to store your ID, tour documents, emergency contact info, and health insurance card.

Checklist for Tech & Gadgets

☐ Chargers & Batteries – Bring chargers for all your devices, plus a portable power bank for days on the go.

☐ Phone Settings – Ensure your phone is fully updated and has offline access to maps or documents if needed.

☐ Apps – Download any tour apps, transit apps, or travel tools like Google Maps, Weather, and Notes.

☐ Tablet or Kindle – Great for reading or relaxing during downtime.
