Bar Harbor

Available on Day 7

Bar Harbor Nature Cruise

Join us for a spectacular 2-hour nature cruise among the islands and shorelines of beautiful Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. We’ll cruise past some of the most breathtaking scenery in New England. From the sheer granite cliffs of Great Head to smooth rock beaches, you’ll see a rugged maritime landscape etched by glaciers and battered by sea & wind. Here, the ocean teems with life; seals raise their pups on ledges, eagles build enormous nests and pods of porpoise chase schools of herring. We stay in the protected waters of Frenchman Bay, home to the Abanaki Indians for 1000’s of years, and first discovered by French explorers Champlain and Cadillac in the 1600s. Your guide will point out magnificent summer homes along millionaires’ row, built during the “summer cottage” era of Bar Harbor. Since 1875, Egg Rock Island Lighthouse has served as a sentinel to mariners; today, it is part of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge and is an important stop on our tour. Your cruise will feature a professional naturalist who is excited to share interesting stories of natural and human history, provide a running narrative, and answer your questions.
Adult Price: $41

Acadian Boat Tours

Sightseeing and Nature Cruise - Our Nature Cruises leave daily from Bar Harbor, Maine, in search of eagles, porpoises, seals, and other interesting marine mammals and birds. We also feature views of timeless mansions, Egg Rock lighthouse and occasionally migrating birds that have ventured into Frenchman Bay. The Acadian has a snack bar, restrooms, and a heated cabin. However, dress warmly. Please bring a warm jacket with you on all our cruises. Handicap accessible and pet-friendly.

Had a few issues but GET came through for me.

Would have liked a little more of the history of New England as well. A lot of time for shopping where I would have enjoyed more time for experiencing New England.

Easy to deal with, took care of everything.

Excellent overall, with amazing tour guide, bus driver and wellness director. So knowledgeable and such great people. Beautiful scenery and loved the stops that portrayed history and nature so well. Several of us had trouble the night after the tour ended with the Boston Park Plaza not having our reservations in their system. Also the Park Plaza was not the best hotel - fire alarms three times, twice in the middle of the night, issues with outlets, TV, clock and phone not working. It was not worth $460/night and I would recommend choosing a different hotel. Good location, though.

Booking experience was easy. GET staff were always available to assist. Helped with changes right up to departure. When I left tour early because of a COVID test, GET checked on my health numerous times.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We are sorry to hear you came down with Covid on your tour but happy to hear you enjoyed the Autumn Colors during the part of the tour you were able to participate in. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate your feedback. Take care!

While I appreciate Grand European's desire to eliminate paper and do everything electronically, not all of us are entirely a part of the 21st century. A few of your folks need to have the patience to explain how travel currently works as the "rules" and technology seem to change every year (or more often).

Trafalgar's travel director, driver, and local people were informed, informative, humorous, patient, and very pleasant. Loved everywhere we went and everything we did. We had a good group.

The trip was good. The weather didn't cooperate with all of the events. But there isn't anything that can be done about that. The tour director and the bus driver were wonderful. The only thing I think would be better is if the tour director with give more information as we are driving. Names of rivers & etc.

No problem with GET customer service. Trafalgar tour guides are not very well trained. Had problems with flight reservations, as well as not seeing all points in our tour. Delta is a terrible airline!!!!! Changed our reservation on four different occasions, which led to a 12 hour delay, getting us into Boston at 1:30am! Truly pathetic!!!!
Response from Grand European Travel:
We are sorry to hear about your issues with your flights and the delays. We do hope that despite your late arrival you were able to enjoy the beautiful sites and the tour itself provided some happy memories.
