  1. Arrive at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. If your cruise package includes a group arrival transfer or if you have purchased a private arrival transfer, you will be greeted by a Uniworld representative and transferred to the ship.

    meal(s):Dinner
  2. Enjoy the luxury of a full day in the “Venice of the North,” starting with a private “Morning with the Masters” tour of the Amsterdam Hermitage. You’ll have the museum’s extraordinary collection of Dutch Masters all to yourself, with an art historian to show you Portrait Gallery highlights and part of a special exhibition of Dutch art collected by Catherine the Great—a show available only through May 2018. Afterwards, explore the city with a choice of excursions.

    Featured Excursions:
Exclusive “Morning with the Masters” at the Amsterdam Hermitage
Choice of Amsterdam canal cruise or Exclusive “Do as the Locals Do” Amsterdam walking tour

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch & Captain's Welcome Reception & Gala Dinner
  3. Your ship docks today in the oldest major city in Germany, lively Cologne (Köln in German). Cologne is the largest city of the Rhineland and a cultural mecca boasting more than 30 museums and hundreds of art galleries. Join a guided walking discovery tour, visit a unique museum or simply enjoy the city on your own. If you’re looking for something more physically challenging, consider a bike ride or walk along the many riverside parks and promenades. Nordic walking sticks and bicycles are available onboard.

    Featured Excursions:
Cologne walking discovery tour with Cologne Cathedral
Choice of Kölsch beer tasting or Roman Germanic Museum

Note: The number of visitors allowed in Cologne Cathedral is regulated by a very strict schedule of time slots. Sightseeing will be arranged around the time slots obtained. On Sundays and Catholic holidays, guided tours inside the cathedral will not be possible.

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  4. Perfectly situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle, Koblenz is a medieval gem with a colorful history and eclectic architecture. Join a local expert to see the sights on foot—including charming churches, baroque-style buildings and graceful fountains (including one known to spit water at unsuspecting passersby). Or “Go Active” with a scenic bike ride along the river.

    Featured Excursions:
Choice of Koblenz walking discovery tour or Exclusive guided “Let's Go” bicycle ride

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  5. When you wake up this morning and gaze out your window, you’ll see steep vineyard-covered hillsides and the distinctive profile of an imperial castle. You’re in Cochem, a village that you can explore in one of two ways today—with a walking tour that leads up to the stunning Reichsburg Castle or a hike through historic vineyards. Later, you’ll visit another village and have a chance to mingle with the locals and taste locally made wines.

    Featured Excursions:
Exclusive Ediger-Eller “Village Day” with wine tasting
Choice of Cochem walking discovery tour with Reichsburg Castle or Exclusive guided “Let's Go” vineyard hike

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  6. Spend this morning relaxing onboard the regal River Queen as the romantic Moselle River Valley unfolds before you. Quiet hamlets and magnificent castles dot the rolling hillsides, and each bend in the river reveals new and thrilling scenic surprises. The ancient Romans and Celts planted the first grapevines on these steep riverside slopes thousands of years ago, and you can see the remnants of their handiwork even today. Once the ship docks, you get to know Trier with a city tour.

    Featured Excursion:
    Trier city tour

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  7. The oldest city in Germany, Trier delights visitors with its cheerful blend of old and new, as its illustrious history is matched by a vibrant social scene. Enjoy the day in Trier and later enjoy the scenes of the ever-changing and always beautiful Moselle.

    Featured Excursions:
Choice of Luxembourg with WWII cemetery or Visit to the wine village of Perl, the reconstructed Roman Villa Borg, and the Saar Bow river bend

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  8. Today you’ll embark on a morning walking tour of Bernkastel, followed by a sampling of luscious local wines at the region’s most prestigious wine estate; or, if you are feeling active, enjoy an invigorating bicycle ride along the banks of the winding Moselle.

    Featured Excursions:
Choice of Bernkastel walking discovery tour with exclusive Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler wine estate visit and tasting or Exclusive guided “Let's Go” bike ride along the Moselle River

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  9. While every day of this journey brims with beautiful sights, today’s may be the most ravishing, as you cruise an extraordinarily scenic stretch of the Rhine River, bookended by two charming little towns.

    Featured Excursions:
    Boppard village stroll
Choice of Aerial cable car ride to the Niederwald monument or Kloster Eberbach medieval monastery tour with Riesling tasting

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  10. A host of possibilities await you today. You can either enjoy a tour of historic Speyer or visit a local vinegar estate to sample its gourmet wares. In the afternoon you can choose to relax onboard or, if you’d like to get some exercise, bike along the Rhine.

    Featured Excursions:
Choice of Speyer walking discovery tour or Exclusive Doktorenhof vinegar estate visit and tasting

Note: Because the Speyer Cathedral is an active place of worship, no tours of its interiors are given.

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  11. Situated halfway between Paris and Prague, the Alsatian town of Strasbourg is known as the “Crossroads of Europe.” It’s also located right on the border of France and Germany, which has resulted in Strasbourg’s unique blending of those nations’ traditional culinary and architectural styles. Choose which way you wish to explore it: with a panoramic tour or by rambling through the vibrant streets of Grande Île.

    Featured Excursions:
Choice of Strasbourg panoramic tour with cathedral and Old Town walk or Exclusive “Do as the Locals Do” Strasbourg walking tour

Note: Shuttle service will be provided to and from the center of Strasbourg in the afternoon.

  • U.S. citizens traveling to the Netherlands Germany, Luxembourg, France and Switzerland must have a current passport valid for six months beyond the conclusion of their trip. You can find information on how to apply for a passport here, and how to renew a passport here. No visa is required for U.S. citizens entering these countries.

  • The currency in the Netherlands, France, Germany and Luxembourg is the Euro (€).The currency in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc (CHF). Please note that Switzerland is not part of the European Union and thus is not obliged to convert to the Euro, however many prices are nonetheless indicated in euros to help travelers compare prices. Some Swiss merchants may accept euros but are not obliged to do so. Change given back will most likely be in Swiss francs.

While it’s a good idea to bring some money for when you first arrive in Europe, you’ll usually find a better exchange rate in your destination.  The most convenient way to obtain cash is to use your ATM card at local banks in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We recommend you also bring a valid credit card for purchases while you are traveling.  It is important that you inform your financial institutions of your travel plans before you leave home so they don’t flag your purchases as potentially fraudulent charges.

  • We recommend packing layers to save space in your suitcase and give you more options for how to dress.  It’s important to bring comfortable walking shoes and a waterproof jacket with a hood. For more helpful information please refer to our Packing Tips & Packing List.

  • We highly recommend our optional Travel Protection Plan, which allows you to cancel for any reason up to 24 hours before departure. The plan also includes trip interruption, baggage loss or delay, and medical and emergency assistance. Click here for a summary of coverage details, terms and conditions.

Add An Optional Cruise Extension Package:
