Overview

Cruise the waters of the Adriatic in comfort and style onboard your modern mega yacht. Discover new ports of call each day, hidden coves and ancient sites steeped in history. Step ashore to experience the cultural diversity of Dalmatia’s islands or bask under the sun, swim or read a good book.

Travel to Europe often requires an overnight flight. Please arrange for flights to arrive on or before Day 1.

  1. Your private transfer will collect you from Split airport and take you to Cornaro Hotel, located in the heart of the city. Your Local Host will greet you and be on hand to help you decide how to spend your time. Perhaps wander through the Old Town, situated minutes away from your hotel. Maybe enjoy a wine tasting offered by the hotel or simply relax in the comfort of your superior room, take in the views from the rooftop bar.

  2. After a free morning, your Local Host will accompany you to Split Harbor where your deluxe cruiser awaits. After you are welcomed onboard by your Cruise Manager, join your Local Expert for a stroll through the ancient walkways of Diocletian's Palace, which now forms the historic center of Split. Walk through labyrinthine streets to see St. Duje's, originally Diocletian's Mausoleum, and the Temple of Jupiter, which today is a baptistery, as well as the Golden Gate. Continue your venture underground, to explore the Cellars. Return to your cruiser to enjoy a cocktail and Welcome Dinner with wine at your meet-and-greet party.

  3. Early this morning, your floating hotel departs from Split and cruises along the picturesque coast. From the comfort of your cabin window or the breakfast table upstairs, enjoy views of sun-dappled islands during your leisurely start to the day. Stop for lunch in one of the secluded bays before arriving in Korčula, on the island of the same name. The locals claim the celebrated globetrotter Marco Polo was born here. Make up your own mind during a walk with a Local Expert through the herringbone maze of streets and flagstone plazas, all framed by honey-colored fortifications. Then you are at leisure to indulge your taste buds in the evening at one of Korčula’s many appealing restaurants and bars.

    meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch with Wine
    hotel:Avangard/Futura/Black Swan, Cruise Ship
  4. Voyage south to the Island of Mljet and join your Cruise Manager for a stroll to Veliko Jezero, the Big Lake of Mljet National Park. A gentle ferry ride brings you to the Benedictine Monastery of St. Mary, which rises out of the saline waters on its own small island. After time to explore, return to your cruise ship for lunch and then set sail for the mighty bastions of Dubrovnik. As the receding sun casts autumnal hues across the endless sky, drift alongside the monumental city walls and enjoy a delicious buffet dinner served on deck.

    hotel:Avangard/Futura/Black Swan, Cruise Ship
  5. Transfer to the medieval Old Town of Dubrovnik, where the footsteps of endless travelers have buffed the marbled streets and squares to a smooth patina. After your guided walking exploration, take the cable car to Srđ Mountain for scenic views over the famous fortifications and Elaphiti Islands. Enjoy a free afternoon in the Pearl of the Adriatic—explore at your own pace, shop in the markets or stroll with friends along the ancient ramparts.

    meal(s):Breakfast
    hotel:Avangard/Futura/Black Swan, Cruise Ship
  6. Start off your day at the beautiful Elaphiti Islands, a summer playground for Dubrovnik's aristocracy during the 16th century. Continue to the Pelješac Peninsula, renowned for its excellent wines. After mooring at a small port on the peninsula, transfer to the village of Kuna for a visit to the local church and monastery, followed by a visit to a nearby farm. Meet the locals and treat your taste buds to a typical village feast with a Farm-to-Table dinner of Croatian delicacies, freshly made with their own produce. Late in the evening, return to your ship.

meal(s):Breakfast, Lunch with Wine, Dinner with Wine
    hotel:Avangard/Futura/Black Swan, Cruise Ship.
  7. Drop anchor at the small island of Šćedro, with quiet coves and pristine beauty offering the most irresistible backdrop for lunch. Cruise westward for a swim in the crystal clear waters of the emerald Pakleni Islands. Continue to disembark at Hvar—the island of sunshine, lavender, sage and wine. Follow the gorgeous white stone, laid down by the Venetians, to the town’s magnificent main square with your Local Expert, considered one of the country’s most beautiful. Lined with chic cafés, it unfurls onto the yacht-filled harbor, with the photogenic Renaissance cathedral forming a stunning backdrop. Spend time exploring the secluded beaches and tiny seafood restaurants or visit the crowning fortress for superb views over the town and island-studded bay.

Walk along the promenade and swim at the picture-perfect Zlatni Rat, or Golden Cape, a shifting triangle of sandy beaches, protruding into the cobalt waters of the Adriatic. At a local winery, relax with some appetizers and taste some of the revered wines of the island. The evening is reserved for the Captain’s Celebration Dinner with live entertainment.

Vacation:
Service rating : The entire trip with Insights was perfect. The ship was beautiful, the food delicious, the people who met us at the airport and ship to transfer us to each were there on time and very friendly. I Couldn't say anything negative about the enitre experience except, GE booked us on a flight home on Sat. before the ship had even docked. When the documents came , it said don't book any flights before 12noon in two places. Fortunetly I picked up on it called G. E. and they could only get us flights home on Sunday. We were put up in a hotel for the night and all the transfers were fine. However, if I hadn't read the material carefully we would have gotten of the ship with no flights. I had theater tickets for that Sunday and had to give up a play. Sue Tattar
Vacation : We had a brand new ship, great crew and director. All the guests were very friendly. The food was great. I can't say enough good thinks about the trip.

Vacation:
Service rating : I likeGETours and have used them before. However, this time, an error was made in our return flight. It was booked before noon - in direct conflict with what the information about the tours contained. This was an oversight that was corrected, however, we had to stay an additional day because there were no flights available on Saturday 10/7. The President hotel was actually very lovely, but it would have been nice to get home on Saturday, The ship, Katerina's Avangard, was beautiful, the guides were great, the crew was great. The flight booking was my only complaint.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We do apologize for this oversight.  We are happy that we could arrange the hotel night at no additional cost to you and that you enjoyed the property and it's amenities.

Vacation : My deluxe cabin was wonderful, clean and bright. the crew was always ready to please, the chef prepared a variety of meals - never the same lunch or dinner, and all were delicious. I liked having a glass of wine with each lunch and dinner and hope that this is always included in the price. The ship was new and beautifully maintained I had a wonderful cruise experience.

  • U.S. citizens traveling to Croatia must have a current passport valid for six months beyond the conclusion of their trip. You can find information on how to apply for a passport here, and how to renew a passport here. No visa is required for U.S. citizens entering Croatia.

  • The currency in Croatia is the Kuna. While it’s a good idea to bring some money for when you first arrive in Europe, you’ll usually find a better exchange rate in your destination.  The most convenient way to obtain cash is to use your ATM card at local banks in Croatia. We recommend you also bring a valid credit card for purchases while you are traveling.  It is important that you inform your financial institutions of your travel plans before you leave home so they don’t flag your purchases as potentially fraudulent charges.

  • Croatian cuisine is hearty, fresh, and flavorful, and is a mix of local traditions and neighboring influences. Meals often begin with bread, cured meats and cheese.  Along the Dalmatian coast you’ll find a variety of seafood dishes and Mediterranean flavors like rosemary, oregano, sage, lemon, and olive oil. For an authentic coastal meal try octopus peka and scampi na buzaru (scampi cooked in garlic, tomato and white wine).  Inland look for specialties such as manistra od bobica (beans and fresh maize soup) or struki (baked cheese dumpling). Traditional dishes from the area around Zagreb include purica z mlincima (turkey with pasta noodles), and strukli (ravioli-like pasta dough balls with a cheese filling).  Pizza and pasta dishes are also ubiquitous.  For dessert, try palačinka, a kind of crêpe served with jam, chocolate sauce, and other decadent fillings. Croatian beer (pivo) is high quality and light lagers most common. The regional wines are also very good, with a variety of red and whites to choose from. Croatia’s favorite brandy is sljivovica, made from plums or travarica, an herbal brandy. Italian espresso is also popular.

  • We suggest bringing a variety of lightweight clothing items that can be layered to save space in your suitcase and give you more options for how to dress. Keep in mind that your shoulders and knees should be covered while visiting religious sites. For more helpful information please refer to our Packing Tips & Packing List.

  • When dining out in Croatia, it’s standard to leave 10 percent gratuity – and up to 15 percent for excellent service – on top of the included service fee.

At the end of your guided vacation, it’s customary to offer your motor coach driver and Travel Director a gratuity. We recommend €3.00 per person/per day for your driver and €5.00 per person/per day for your Travel Director.  Recommended gratuity for a Local Host and Local Specialist is 1-2 euros per person, paid at the conclusion of each guided visit.  A convenient option is to prepay your tips before your departure.

  • Baggage on our trips is restricted to one large suitcase per person with dimensions not exceeding 30x19x10 inches and a maximum weight of 50 pounds. You are also permitted one piece of hand luggage, which should be small enough to fit under your coach seat or on the small overhead shelf compartment. Please note that luggage with an adjustable handle and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartment of the coach. Hotel porterage is included in your vacation.

  • You will need to be comfortable on your feet, walking and standing for up to three hours in various weather conditions.  All of our vacations involve walking, often on cobblestone and uneven surfaces in historic city centers.  In order to get the most out of your vacation you need to be able to comfortably walk 1-3 miles unassisted in one day, be in good condition and be able to keep pace with the group.

If you need any medications, it is important that you bring enough to last you the whole trip and keep them in your carry-on bag while you travel.

  • We highly recommend our optional Travel Protection Plan, which allows you to cancel for any reason up to 24 hours before departure. The plan also includes trip interruption, baggage loss or delay, and medical and emergency assistance. Click here for a summary of coverage details, terms and conditions.
