Service rating : Our tour guide was excellent. He provided us with so much information.
Vacation : We were not advised that a heat wave was taking place. GET had all our information and could have contacted us so we could take the proper clothing, also considering hotels in these countries do not have air conditioning. The optional tours were the best, but not included in the regular schedule. We had to pay for them separately.

Service rating : Fantastic trip. We all enjoyed our experience as well as the very enthusiastic tour director, Cat. We've never had a bad experience and are looking into next year's trip.
Vacation : Good bargain. Lots of optional activities to choose from and to keep us busy.

Service rating : This was a very nice tour. It provided what I expected. Some thing could be done better; Tour guide could tell people what to expect the next day regarding weather and temperatures. The people on the tour are not famliar with the area and this would have avoided last minute rushes to drag out suitcases from the bus and find adequate clothing. More time could be allocated to urban areas, rather than waste time in rest stops.
Vacation : It was a good deal for the money. The hotels were comfortable although not always well located.

Service rating : We found our tour director Magdi to be extremely knowledgeable and patient with the many different personalities on a tour of this type. She was fantastic. We are vegan and she made sure we had food we could eat and checked in regularly to make sure. She showed wonderful attention to detail
Response from Grand European Travel:
Thank you for sharing! Traveling as a vegan can sometimes be stressful in Europe, we're so glad to hear that Magdi took such wonderful care to make sure you had a great time. Happy travels!

Vacation : It was challenging to be outside the city centers so often even if this was done to keep costs down Also it is a lot of time in a bus but we did get to cover a lot of beautiful scenery

Service rating : This was a very good experience. I have traveled with GET previously and am planning another trip with them next year to Switzerland.
Vacation : Price was fair, however, having to pay single supplements is not so good but since I choose to travel as a single, I accept the cost. Seems like more meals are not included unless you purchase an optional tour. I remember the days when all meals were included. I realize by not including more meals and hotels closer to city centers, is a way to keep costs down for the traveler. Again, acceptance for keeping costs more affordable.
Response from Grand European Travel:
The single supplements can certainly add to the overall price of your trip. Throughout the year we do offer some trips where the supplement is waived. Visit our website www.getours.com for more details. We do appreciate your repeat business. Thank you!

Vacation : We were a little leery of the Cost-Saver designation but it worked out perfectly. Our trip was affordable and the hotels were fine. We were able to make our own decisions on how much to spend for the meals that were not covered. We splurged but many did not. The optional experiences were fun and not overpriced.
Response from Grand European Travel:
Thank you so much for sharing your experience.  We are so happy that you enjoyed our Cost Saver product and beautiful Scandinavia.

  • U.S. citizens traveling to Scandinavian countries – Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland –must have a current passport valid for six months beyond the conclusion of their trip. You can find information on how to apply for a passport here, and how to renew a passport here. No visa is required for U.S. citizens entering Scandinavia.

  • Scandinavian countries do not share a common currency. Here are the currencies used by country.

    Sweden – Swedish Krona

    Norway – Norwegian Krone

    Denmark – Danish Kroner

    Finland – Euro

    Iceland – Icelandic Krona

While it’s a good idea to have some money on you while you travel, you’ll usually find better exchange rates in your destination.  The most convenient way to obtain cash is to use your ATM card at local banks in the country you’re visiting. We recommend you also bring a valid credit card for purchases while you are traveling.  It is important that you inform your financial institutions of your travel plans before you leave home so they don’t flag your purchases as potentially fraudulent charges.

  • Scandinavian cuisine is rich and hearty.  Try a traditional ‘smørgasbord’ with a selection of meat, fish, salads, hot dishes, puddings and cheeses. Sample dishes prepared with a variety of seafood including smoked salmon, cod, herring, sardines and mackerel. Popular meats include reindeer, lamb and fowl. Coffee and milk are very popular, along with lager. Aquavit is the local spirit, and is usually served chilled. Wines and other spirits are imported products and are very expensive.

  • We suggest bringing a variety of clothing items that can be layered to save space in your suitcase and give you more options for how to dress. For more helpful information please refer to our Packing Tips & Packing List.

  • When dining out it is appropriate to leave 5-10 percent gratuity if a service charge has not already been added to your bill.

At the end of your guided vacation, it’s customary to offer your motor coach driver and Travel Director a gratuity.  We recommend the equivalent of €3.00 per person/per day for your driver and €5.00 per person/per day for your Travel Director.  Recommended gratuity for a Local Host and Local Specialist is 1-2 euros per person, paid at the conclusion of each guided visit.  A convenient option is to prepay your tips before your departure.

  • Baggage on our trips is restricted to one large suitcase per person with dimensions not exceeding 30x19x10 inches and a maximum weight of 50 pounds. You are also permitted one piece of hand luggage, which should be small enough to fit under your coach seat or on the small overhead shelf compartment. Please note that luggage with an adjustable handle and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartment of the coach. Hotel porterage is included in your vacation.

  • You will need to be comfortable on your feet, walking and standing for up to three hours in various weather conditions.  All of our vacations involve walking, often on cobblestone and uneven surfaces in historic city centers.  In order to get the most out of your vacation you need to be able to comfortably walk 1-3 miles unassisted in one day, be in good condition and be able to keep pace with the group.

If you need any medications, it is important that you bring enough to last you the whole trip and keep them in your carry-on bag while you travel.

  • We highly recommend our optional Travel Protection Plan, which allows you to cancel for any reason up to 24 hours before departure. The plan also includes trip interruption, baggage loss or delay, and medical and emergency assistance. Click here for a summary of coverage details, terms and conditions.
