Alicia was very informative and helpful from the initial phone call until just before leaving. She was always courteous and patient.
Hotels were in good locations. Buffet breakfasts were great. I felt not enough time allowed to really visit some destinations. A lot of time traveling on bus. All optional dinner excursions were cancelled which was a disappointment. The evening of the Dine-Around Evening, was not a good experience. the restaurant was not prepared for us. We ordered baked salmon and got a fried fishstick instead!!

I had written an entire paragraph and was disconnected. My info was lost and I am not typing it again.
Breakfasts were excellent but included dinners were mediocre. We should be able to order off a menu like normal people.

Vacation started off poorly when I was left at airport on arrival though I made the transfer point on time. Had to pay 27 euros to get to hotel on my own. After that things went pretty well.
Good value. The food and wine included was okay but not outstanding. Hotels were for the most part well located and clean.

The trip was very interesting with many lovely places to see and explore. Our travel director, Petra, was great. The only issue was that everyone was complaining that everything was so rushed.

I enjoyed the entire trip. I felt that the places we saw were excellent. Also excellent was our guide, Hildegard who was very knowledgable and Petr, our bus driver. Petr was an excellent driver. Our step on guides were also excellent. I think my only complaint would be that some of the hotel rooms were not as warm as I would have liked. Had a problem with the heat at the Hilton in Mainz, when I spoke to the desk, the problem was remedied. I felt the selection of restrauants were also very good.
I did bring some purchases back for family & friends, and myself. Due to airline weight restrictions I had to choose carefully. When I gave them to my family etc. everyone liked them.

As far as the actual tour goes, it was about average for a bus trip. The hotels that we stayed in were nice enough. There really wasn't a lot of sightseeing included in the trip, without paying extra for the optionals. Many days, without buying the optionals, the included part of the tour would have been over before noon. In fact, one day, it would have been over at 9 am! - We had the disadvantage of having a tour guide who wasn't very interested in her job. She was downright rude to several people and did the bare minimum. When we arrived at the airport in Berlin, our luggage did not arrive with us. She gave us quite a lecture on not having our "high visibility" luggage tag where she could see it..... a bit hard, as I told her, since we didn't have luggage to put it on. I had a paper that customer service had given us to try to contact the airlines to check on the progress they were having in locating it. I showed it to her and asked if she could help us with it, since we didn't have phone service in Germany. She told us that the hotel could probably help us. Even the next day... she never even asked if the hotel had been able to help us or if we had gotten our luggage. - This tour included going to Oktoberfest in lieu of a city tour. At first, she wasn't even going to take us to Oktoberfest and make sure that we were able to get back in a strange city at night. She told us that she was going to give us a day pass for the tram and instructions to get there and back. Many people were not happy and she did end up taking us there and coming back to get us at 8 pm. There were some people who had been afraid to go for fear that they would get lost at night trying to get back. - It does kind of seem like Insight is providing less for their trips than they have in the past. Mostly, the included parts are city tours and you don't really see that much on them. Even when you do tour a castle or someplace, you get a very abbreviated tour.
I've already written why under customer experience.

We loved our tour guide! She was knowledgeable, personable, attentive and very efficient. She made the flourishes so personal. Local guides also added to the depth of our tour.
Worth every penny! Great way to celebrate our 35th anniversary.

1. The hotel in Munchen was located well out of the city center; not what I expected from Insight. 2. Too many lunch stops at rest stops, when it often seemed that the stops could have been arranged for locations of actual interest. 3. The particular tour guide we had was not particularly helpful or informative. It would have been nice to have had specifics about the timetable in advance to permit planning.
Response from Grand European Travel:
We are sorry to hear that we fell short of your expectations on this trip. We have shared your valuable feedback with the Quality Control team at Insight Vacations for immediate review. We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention.
