Vacation : Beautiful old buildings, Castles. So big and I could picture so many happenings in my mind.
Sunday, September 17, 2017
Service rating : Well planned trip with a very knowledgeable and interesting tour guide. Would recommend to anyone who wished to cover a lot of ground in a short time.
Vacation : Well planned trip with a very knowledgable and interesting tour guide. Would recommend to anyone who wished to cover a lot of territory in a short time.
Sunday, September 17, 2017
Service rating : The bus schedule was well planned. Some of the hotels could have been better.
Vacation : There was some confusion on the first day as to where and when the transportation would pick us up at the airport. Otherwise, the tour guide and bus driver were very informative and helpful throughout the tour. I was worried as I was from Jacksonville, FL just as Irma headed towards it. Hotel was wonderful to help me call airline to get idea which airports were closed to me as I headed home. Helped me get back to Chicago with my cousin and set me up at a hotel for 2 nights waiting for flight to Florida.
Sunday, September 3, 2017
Service rating : The pre-trip information was very helpful and accurate. Everything was very well-organized.
Vacation : The only complaint that I have is that my wife and I were charged full adult fares for the excursions while we are seniors and senior rates were available on site at many of the locations.
Tuesday, August 1, 2017
Service rating : Seamless, no hassle service from initial booking until trip's end.
Vacation : Lots of value for the money
Sunday, July 23, 2017
Service rating : I know this was suppose to be an economical trip but if felt more like a very cheap trip the hotels were more like collage dorm rooms and were very far from the main cities when I ask I was told by the representative that all the hotels were in walking distance to the cities we were visiting, The guide was not very knowable about what was in the area that we visited I could have bought a guide book and learned more than about these countries we visited than she told us. A couple of times the bus drive had to give her information. This was like a cruise were you pulled into port and were drop off in the shopping district. The reason I booked this tour with your company was due to the experience that I had on a previous tour I took with you. This will make me think before I book another tour with your company
Response from Grand European Travel:
Thank you for taking the time to write.  It looks like you booked one of our Cost Saver trips which are designed to be more affordable but still offer the same highlights and service for our guests.  We are sorry to hear about your disappointment with your Travel Director.  We know that they can make or break a trip and it sounds like they missed the mark with your group.  We will be sure to share this information with Trafalgar's management team and ask them to review it immediately.

Vacation : Everything was very cheap
Monday, July 17, 2017
Service rating : Yes, I would recommend them to other people. I loved the tour director and her insight on the countries we visited. The hotels were great. The optional excursions were wonderful.
Vacation : I wasn't expecting to spend so much time on the bus. I wished we could have spent more time in the small villages and less time in the bigger cities.
Sunday, July 16, 2017
Service rating : Pete the Tour director was excellent in every sense of the word. Got us in and out of every place on time. Was very courteous with every one specially me.
Vacation : It was very good and interesting. To see all of different parts of Great Britain.
Sunday, June 18, 2017
Service rating : The contacts with us were efficient and friendly. Our only complaint is that it was a cost saver tour so that the hotels were pretty Spartan. We did not know in advance that it was a cost saver. Be sure people know this! Our tour leader and driver were great.
Vacation : We would have liked more time in places but that was our fault.
Monday, June 12, 2017
Service rating : Efficient booking and follow up services. All questions answers, travel docs delivered as noted.
Vacation : Doing a pre-planned tour allowed us to see many, many aspects of Britian and Ireland. Because we did so much and traveled so far, it didn't leave a lot of free time to explore all the beautiful places we visited. I would describe this trip as a drive-by tour but it gave us many ideas to go back and stay longer in places we loved.
Sunday, May 14, 2017
Service rating : Safe, interesting, fun. Coach clean and comfortable. Driver and tour director gave personal attention. Ibis Hotel staff and concierge especially congenial and helpful.
Vacation : Comprehensive tour included many extras, all delightful and worthwhile.
  • U.S. citizens traveling to UK and Ireland must have a current passport that is valid for six months beyond the conclusion of their trip. You can find information on how to apply for a passport here, and how to renew a passport here. No visa is required for U.S. citizens entering the UK or Ireland.

  • The currency in the UK is the Pound (£) and in Ireland is the Euro (€). While it’s a good idea to bring some money for when you first arrive, you’ll usually find a better exchange rate in your destination.  The most convenient way to obtain cash is to use your ATM card at local banks in the UK and Ireland. We recommend you also bring a valid credit card for purchases while you are traveling.  It is important that you inform your financial institutions of your travel plans before you leave home so they don’t flag your purchases as potentially fraudulent charges.

  • English specialties include fish and chips, Yorkshire pudding, sausages, stilton cheese, and scones with clotted cream. Culinary experiences to not to miss include a traditional pub meal, afternoon tea, and full English breakfast.  In larger cities like London you’ll also find restaurants serving a variety of international cuisine.

Irish national specialties including Irish stew, coddle, potato bread, corned beef and whiskey cake. Be sure to try an Irish breakfast, visit a chip shop for fresh fish and chips, and enjoy hearty lunch at a good local pub.

  • The climate in the UK and Ireland is temperate, with regular rainfall throughout the year. We suggest packing a variety of lightweight clothing items that can be layered to save space in your suitcase and give you more options for how to dress.  A few important items to bring include sturdy walking shoes and a waterproof jacket with a hood. For more helpful information please refer to our Packing Tips & Packing List.

  • Tipping in Britain and Ireland is less common than in the U.S. When dining out, some restaurants will add a service charge of 12.5 percent to your bill, especially for groups.  If a service hasn’t been added, it’s appropriate to leave 10 – 15 percent gratuity.

At the end of your guided vacation, it’s customary to offer your motor coach driver and Travel Director a gratuity. We recommend €3.00 per person/per day for your driver and €5.00 per person/per day for your Travel Director.  Recommended gratuity for a Local Host and Local Specialist is 1-2 euros per person, paid at the conclusion of each guided visit.  A convenient option is to prepay your tips before your departure.

  • Baggage on our trips is restricted to one large suitcase per person with dimensions not exceeding 30x19x10 inches and a maximum weight of 50 pounds. You are also permitted one piece of hand luggage, which should be small enough to fit under your coach seat or on the small overhead shelf compartment. Please note that luggage with an adjustable handle and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartment of the coach. Hotel porterage is included in your vacation.

  • You will need to be comfortable on your feet, walking and standing for up to three hours in various weather conditions.  All of our vacations involve walking, often on cobblestone and uneven surfaces in historic city centers.  In order to get the most out of your vacation you need to be able to comfortably walk 1-3 miles unassisted in one day, be in good condition and be able to keep pace with the group.

If you need any medications, it is important that you bring enough to last you the whole trip and keep them in your carry-on bag while you travel.

  • We highly recommend our optional Travel Protection Plan, which allows you to cancel for any reason up to 48 hours before departure. The plan also includes trip interruption, baggage loss or delay, and medical and emergency assistance. Click here for a summary of coverage details, terms and conditions.
