Kenya Travel Tips

Kickstart your African safari adventure in Kenya, a country in East Africa with coastline on the Indian Ocean, encompassing savannah, lake lands, and the famous Great Rift Valley. It's also home to wildlife like lions, elephants and rhinos. Visiting Kenya's legendary national parks and game reserves almost guarantees that you'll see the Big Five as well as huge herds of plains animals and hundreds of colorful birds. Visit Aberdare National Park and Lake Nakuru and keep your cameras ready! Journey through the vast plains of the Maasai Mara for a safari adventure. Maasai Mara National Reserve is an area of preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. Home to lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, hippos, the reserve is famous for the thousands of wildebeest which traverse its plains during their annual migration. The areas nearby are dotted with villages (enkangs) of Maasai people. The Maasai are a semi-nomadic people who live under a communal land management system, herd cattle, and believe that no one should be denied access to natural resources. One of the last remaining indigenous tribal communities in East Africa, the title Maasai derives from the word Maa, Maa-sai means my people.
When’s the best time to go? You’re in luck, Kenya might have one of the best climates in the world with sunny, dry days; daytime temperatures between 68°F and 77°F. If you’re interested in game-plan to go during the driest seasons (May–September, January, and February) because the lack of surface water urges game to congregate en masse at water holes.
